2012 Annual Appeal

The 2012 Annual Appeal is officially underway!  Over 700 volunteers will be heading into the streets of Whitehorse to collect or letterbox each and every residence.  One donation to the Chest supports over 40 charitable organisations that assist the citizens of Whitehorse.

A quote sent to us by one of our donors

"It is often easier to become outraged by injustice half a world away than by oppression and discrimination half a block from home"

What is the Whitehorse Community Chest?

Since 1962, the Whitehorse Community Chest has helped local charities and welfare agencies serving people needing assistance in our community.

By supporting the Whitehorse Community Chest, you are helping at least 40 charities and welfare agencies in the City of Whitehorse.

Each year we help a broad range of groups and services including:

Our mission is to promote local giving by raising and distributing funds to organisations that provide health, wellbeing, education, recreation and support services.

We focus on partnership development and building strategic alliances that benefit our community.

The Whitehorse Community Chest is managed by volunteers and two part-time staff to serve local residents. Each year nearly 700 volunteer walkers/collectors knock on every door in the community to raise funds that are distributed to local charities and community groups.

How are donations distributed?

We carefully research and consider submissions from registered charitable organisations. The Community Chest supports those who provide benefits, either directly or indirectly, to the Whitehorse Community. If you represent a registered charitable organisation, we welcome your application to become a beneficiary. Please complete and return this Application for Aid form for consideration.
